Since resuming this semester, we are now down to the final module and our final product. As I am now in a partnership with Scott Jones, we have come together and decided to use Fixel Films as our basis for completing our module. Since starting back with have read over the brief and been told the outline of our final piece, to be handed in on the 6th May. As our final piece would need to include some sort of product that ranges from 5 to 23 minutes, After having our very first meeting and brainstorming together ideas we straight away knew the path we wanted to take. From a brief but to the point discussion we managed to settle on a client that would be easy to access and communicate with, plus something that we would take enjoyment out of. Set one twenty a local leeds student night and run by a close friend, this just seemed like the right idea. As Set one twenty has started to gain reputation and become this new exciting night to be included in the leeds house music scene. As we had discussed together that set one twenty would be our client, we then started to think of all the products we could produce to help them push forward as well as benefit our final module. As in the previous semester we had filmed there launch night with international DJ Moon Boots, from the excitement and buzz that the night gained we seemed this would be a great product to show on screen.
After a going over a meeting and brainstorming ideas, we decided to create a media package for set one twenty to try and deliver as much promotion for the brand as well as show of as many skills that we can. As ours will be very visual based and what you see on screen, we want to promote set one twenty as much as possible but in Fixel films style. The package that we have decided to come up with will include different types of media, the package will include:
- 3 Promotional Videos of the nights ahead
- Live DJ stream for a Set one twenty night
- Documentary on the rise of student nights
- Set one twenty podcasts & Blog
- Music Video for set on twenty resident, Corsair
- DJ interview sessionsAfter deciding on all aspects of the set one twenty media package, the next step was to think about completing our proposal pitch and making sure people would understand what we want to show. The next steps were to discuss all our ideas with our client or Michael Mcmahon and see what type of footage he would want to get out of it. Hopefully with the backing of set one twenty we can both work together to create exactly what we both want. We would speak to Michael and the rest of the team in the next week and discuss terms and conditions. As we previously filmed there launch night and was very pleased with the outcome, Michael had said before that he would love us to carry on with the upcoming shows and have a small type of contract to film the rest of the nights to come. As we have already agreed to do the next event, which is in a week time, we will take this as our first opportunity to film in the Garage club and make the night look as good as it will be. With the opportunity of a sold out event, we had planned to use this event as a test for the next ones and hopefully improve upon faults.
We have decided to use a 50mm and 20mm Lens as this will bring the whole crowd into shot with the 20mm and gather all expressions and faces with the close up 50mm. As the night is a disco based night, we feel we need to include colours and the 80's look that I'm sure the clothing and music will represent. After planning and going over the shoot, we want to express peoples emotions as well as there nights colourful feel, with disco balls, multi coloured clothes and smiling faces, we want to represent a night that people will look at and then think to come to next event.
